DEVCON BUILDING NEW FRANKLIN
STREET APARTMENTS & RETAIL SPACE IN REDWOOD CITY
REDWOOD CITY -- Devcon Construction
has begun work on a 237,000 square-foot,
three- and four-story apartment complex, complete with garage, at
One Maple Street. To be named the Franklin Street Apartments, the
project, which includes a total of five separate buildings, is being
built completely with 100% union labor.
"The three- and four-story, wood-framed
structures will be over one and two levels of garage parking and
total 206 units," said Devcon Project Manager John Kranich.
"Included in the complex are a retail center, leasing office,
pool on a podium, a cabana building, and an exercise/fitness facility.
Among the landscaping hightlights will be assorted palm trees, 60"
box magnolias and other trees and shrubs common to the area."
McLarand, Vasquez and Partners of Irvine,
California are acting as the project's architects. Devcon had previously
worked with its client on this project, The Irvine Company, on McCarthy
Ranch in Milpitas.
Milpitas-based Devcon is the largest
general building contractor based in Silicon Valley, and it maintains
a regional office in Santa Cruz to manage projects along the coast.
With building experience throughout Northern California, Devcon
has constructed industrial parks, commercial centers and landmark
office buildings, in all totaling some 35 million square feet of
shells and interiors.
