DEVCON BUSILY WORKING ON BUILDINGS
FOR FAIRFIELD'S NEW GREEN VALLEY CORPORATE CENTER
FAIRFIELD -- When it comes to project
sizes, they don't come any bigger than the new Green Valley Corporate
Center now taking shape in Fairfield. Devcon is currently working
on the complex's Phase 12 Building, the first structure being built
in the business park, which will contain two million square-feet
of commercial space upon completion. The 103,000-square-foot Phase
12 Building is a three-story edifice with tilt-up panels, which
contain numerous reveals and offset panels to create interesting
shadow lines. The building also features the generous use of high
performance, reflective glass windows. A completion date of mid-November
2002 has been set for this building whose tenant will be Copart,
Inc., a firm relocating from
Benicia.
"In addition to this structure,
we've started work on Building 5 of Phase I," noted Project
Manager Peter Copriviza. "This is a two-story, 54,454-square-foot,
tilt-up building. The second floor of this building has already
been leased to St. Paul Insurance, and it should be finished by
the end of 2002."
With this massive undertaking, Midwest
developer Harvey Shein and his firm, Green Valley LLC, along with
its partner, Quadrangle Development Co., are the first to build
Class A office buildings in Solano County, a region better known
for its manufacturing and blue collar jobs. However, Shein and his
cohorts believe the region has been transformed by an influx of
white-collar homeowners drawn to Solano County by more affordable
housing. They would like to keep these Solano County residents from
commuting to other Bay Area cities as they are currently doing.
With such an impressive and large-scale development, Shein hopes
to keep these Solano residents home and off the roads, working in
the same community where they live.
Milpitas-based Devcon is the largest
general building contractor based in Silicon Valley, and it maintains
a regional office in Santa Cruz to manage projects along the coast.
With building experience throughout Northern California, Devcon
has constructed industrial parks, commercial centers and landmark
office buildings, in all totaling some 35 million square feet of
shells and interiors.
