The site features two large plazas between the buildings consisting of 16 terraces including an open air bridge connecting the third levels of two of the buildings.   • SCU Dowd Art & Art History Building

    This project includes 45,000 SF new construction of a 3-story building that integrates more than 45,000 SF of centralized, state-of-the-art studio, classroom, gallery, and other space for faculty, students, and visiting artists and scholars. Situated next to the Jesuit Community Residence and close to Mission Santa Clara de Asís, the new building reshapes the northern entrance of the University. The first floor of the building is primarily dedicated to gallery space and classrooms for instruction in three-dimensional art, such as sculpture. Upon entering, the most striking feature is a large blown-glass sculpture by famed artist Dale Chihuly on display in the main lobby. The second floor of the Edward M. Dowd Art and Art History building primarily house office and studio space for faculty. The third floor is used for instruction of two-dimensional art. This floor also has computer facilities for students enrolled in popular digital arts classes. Underneath the building’s dome is the pantheon lobby which further opens up to the pantheon terrace, offering views of campus. This new dedicated, centralized home for the department provides greatly expanded flexibility, capacity, and resources for the department, which serves more than 1,000 students a year.     This project includes an 8,500 SF Café with authentic Japanese design elements, such as private dining rooms with recessed floors and shoji screen doors, tatami mat seating areas, and fabric wall panels. Other high-end finishes include stone tile floors, hand-painted wall tiles, wood slat ceilings, custom banquettes, and numerous other custom wood elements. Exterior improvements feature an updated patio area with built-in wood benches, a new fountain, cedar perimeter fence, and new Japanese gate structures. The Café was built inside an occupied building and completed successfully on an extremely tight seven week schedule, requiring double- and triple-shifts for the full duration.     This 27,000 SF office remodel consists of new interior finishes including butt-glaze window wall systems with sliding glass doors, cork and sisal flooring, wood slat wall panels, new recycled content ceiling tile, and aluminum screens walls with Green Monster Board Panels. The project also features an “Arktura” undulating metal fin ceiling; this is the first ceiling of this type on the West Coast. All work was performed while the building remained partially occupied.     This project includes a 1,000,000 SF construction of a nine-building retirement community consisting of 388 customized independent living units which consisted of seven four story buildings with post tension decks; one wood-framed, two-story building with 62 assisted living units; and one wood-framed, one-story skill nursing facility with 44 units along with an 181,000 SF underground parking lot and back-of-house and state-of-the-art amenity spaces. Exteriors of stone and stucco coordinate with lush landscaping that features walking paths, seating areas and several beauty spots for socializing and quiet contemplation. This project also included a care center. The interior includes a fitness center, an array of dining venues including a café and kitchen and an indoor swimming pool. The four-story independent living buildings and the one and two story care center sit on a 22.3 acre site. This was an OSHPD project. Site work consists of site accessibility, hard scape and landscaping upgrades including new amenities such as employee BBQ and sport courts. Tenant improvement modifications include finish upgrades, ADA upgrades, and new conference rooms.
