This 26,000 SF resort renovation and new construction includes the lodge, tennis club, and vineyard areas. This design/build tenant improvement project consists of a 90,000 SF interior conversion of an existing 185,000 SF concrete tilt-up into a plastics manufacturing facility. Project included an overhead rack distribution system, new customized electrical, mechanical, process piping, and condensed dry air systems to support the thermoplastic injection equipment, and storage housed in 65,000 SF of the one-story space. Special facilities include a tool room, a grinding room, and an outside chiller plant, and two large silos to feed raw materials to the machines. Since the tanks were erected on special concrete pads on the gradient of the loading dock incline, a new and catwalk with safety rail was built to accommodate the change in elevation. The remaining 25,000 SF of office space includes a large break room with an exterior patio, a small break room, large conference areas and perimeter offices. One conference room includes a sliding partition and built-in video projection and audio equipment. This project included a design/build purpose built single story 9,200 SF CMU structure to house critical data processing (data center) and communications equipment (communications hub) and an emergency call center. The data center houses 96 server racks and associated network racks for critical systems. The communications hub houses 32 network racks and additional fiber distribution frames, and is part of a campus wide network of redundant hubs which are designed to remain functional after a major earthquake or similar event. The call center is a back-up facility to be used in the event the main call center is rendered inoperable. This project includes 45,000 SF new construction of a 3-story building that integrates more than 45,000 SF of centralized, state-of-the-art studio, classroom, gallery, and other space for faculty, students, and visiting artists and scholars. Situated next to the Jesuit Community Residence and close to Mission Santa Clara de Asís, the new building reshapes the northern entrance of the University. The first floor of the building is primarily dedicated to gallery space and classrooms for instruction in three-dimensional art, such as sculpture. Upon entering, the most striking feature is a large blown-glass sculpture by famed artist Dale Chihuly on display in the main lobby. The second floor of the Edward M. Dowd Art and Art History building primarily house office and studio space for faculty. The third floor is used for instruction of two-dimensional art. This floor also has computer facilities for students enrolled in popular digital arts classes. Underneath the building’s dome is the pantheon lobby which further opens up to the pantheon terrace, offering views of campus. This new dedicated, centralized home for the department provides greatly expanded flexibility, capacity, and resources for the department, which serves more than 1,000 students a year. This 14,200 SF project features a 4-story mixed-use building, slab on grade with two stories of structural concrete and two stories of structural steel and metal decking. The first floor consists of on grade parking with car stackers, a high-end lobby and a conference room. The second floor offers office space with two large north and south facing terraces. Finally, the third and fourth floor consists of two custom high-end residential units with north and south facing terraces as well. A very challenging project to expand an existing operational data center and related support systems. The enlarged facility provided for approx 150 server cabinets with a power density of 8kW/ea. N+1 redundancy was provided using the Liebert XD HVAC system, with multiple static UPS and parallel distribution. Improvements also included VESDA and pre-action fire protection. Construction constraints included very limited floor-floor heights, completion of the electrical tie-ins into live services, and full commissioning under simulated load during off-hours. This project consists of redevelopment of a federal superfund site including construction of a new three story, 87,040 SF Class A commercial office building with a combination of steel frame and concrete tilt-up construction and associated site improvements on the 183,390 SF site. The site has an active 3,150 SF extraction and monitoring station that must be kept in operation and protected during the construction.
