- Andy Schatzman | Devcon
Previous Andy Schatzman Sr. Vice President of Construction While earning his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Santa Clara University, Andy Schatzman fed his passion for building by working as a draftsman during summer breaks and as a field engineer during internships. After graduating in 1983, he went on to earn his contractor’s license (B), engineer-in-training certification, and LEED, Core Concepts and Strategies certification. Schatzman’s diligence, communication skills and negotiation talents earned him a reputation for being able to manage large, complex projects on time and within budget during his decade working for a large general contractor in the Midwest. He returned to California in 1988, and in 1993 was recruited to start the design/build contracting division of a large Bay Area engineering firm. When he discovered Devcon, Schatzman saw the opportunity for “the best of both worlds – doing challenging, interesting jobs in a family atmosphere.” He joined Devcon in 1999 as a Senior Project Manager, and was named Vice President of Construction in 2010. Schatzman’s extensive experience and deep knowledge of industry best practices and state and local building codes give him a particular talent for multi-million dollar projects such as a $200 million senior living facility and a $100 million five-star hotel. “I just try to mirror Gary Filizetti’s philosophy of client relationships,” Schatzman explained. “Once we get a project, my job becomes 100% about service.” Next

- Andy Bloom | Devcon
Previous Andy Bloom Vice President of Construction The construction industry has always been part of Andy Bloom’s DNA being raised around his family’s general contracting company in California’s Central Valley. Growing up, Andy’s summers were spent working as a laborer on concrete tilt-ups before attending Santa Clara University and earning a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. While at Santa Clara University, he was hired at Devcon Construction as a Project Engineer intern in 2004 and has been with the company since. “As long as I can remember, I knew I was going to be a general contractor; however, it has exceeded all expectations being part of such highly regarded and successful company,” Bloom states. In his role as Vice President of Construction, Bloom’s responsibilities include serving as Devcon’s contact for clients while providing pre-construction, estimating, design management, and scheduling services. During the construction phase, he ensures these services translate to maximum project efficiency and project cost controls. During his time at Devcon, Bloom has been involved with several high-profile clients in a variety of industries – tech companies, professional sports teams, higher education institutions, and venture capitalists. Reflecting on his experience, Bloom says, “Being involved with these large projects is very rewarding, but not without its challenges. Every day is a new challenge, but I could not be prouder to work daily with my fellow Devcon teammates and represent Devcon at the highest level. I look forward to each day and continue to evolve with the latest Silicon Valley has to offer.” Next
